Do you feel like I do?

Just last night, I saw Peter Frampton live at Busch Gardens. We arrived at 3:00 and were told that the gates opened at 5:00 and the show started at 8:00, so my mother and I sat at the gate for 2 hours! By the time the gates opened, there were about 30 people standing in "line". In the 2 hours we sat there, we met a lot of interesting people including a very nice couple that we talked with and I, at one point rode the griffin with.

When the gates finely opened, the "line" that had formed (more like a mob) ran for it like Beatlemania. So I, being the skinny one of the family, ran like a mad man to get a spot as close to the stage as possible and let me tell you the running was well worth it. I was leaning against the stage for the whole concert.

I brought my camera and managed take some pretty awesome pics and videos.

Here. They. Are.

Ladies  and Gentlemen, Peter Frampton!!!

Is that not the most wonderful guitar?

This is him playing "Do you feel like we do?"

He did a great version of "while my guitar gently weeps" and "Black hole sun".

And I think the thing I liked most, was that he was just plain fun to watch. He looked like he really loves what he does (and lets face it, who wouldn't).

Him and the crew...

from penicillin to instruments

I recently found a new instrument that caught my attention, it is called a "Xaphoon" and it is a 13" instrument with a sax reed. The slag term for it is the "pocket sax", and true to its name, it sounds very much like and has the same fingering as a soprano sax. Now I cant tell for sure how user friendly it is for two very good reasons, 1. I do not own one, all of my info comes from buyers.     2. I can't play the sax(so I would not know how easy it is in compression  to a real soprano sax.). but I thought I might try to make one... So I found a picture and, using photoshop, made a life-sized picture to use as a finger chart. In the picture above you can see that it is all one solid piece but I wanted mine to have a removable mouth-piece so since I was making mine out of PVC I used a pipe connecter.
I then drilled out the holes but instead of using a sax reed I made my own (HA! this is where I trick you, you are thinking that I'm so cool because I can make reeds but I cheat and, here's a little tip, make then out of plastic!)  I will use either the flat side of a plastic milk-jug or go to Michael's arts and crafts and get stencil plastic. It didn't have sax sound at all but instead sounded more like a pungi.

here are some finished pictures.

penicillin was created by accident and so was my new instrument.

Games and music

My family is not much for video games but I found one that my whole family (even my mother who is hardest on video games.) can enjoy. The game is called Portal, the story behind the game is... you are in a testing facility called Aperture science, you have been given a gun that shoots blue and orange portals, orange ones go in and blue one come out and vice-versa. You must navigate (or "naviguess" as my case my be) the levels (did I spell level backwards?) under the instruction of GlaDOS, a computerized female voice who "guides" you through the levels with the promise that "once you complete your training you will be payed and the there will be cake.". But as you advance in the game, GlaDOS tries to halt your advancements and even tries to kill you. You find graffiti on some of the walls, "help!" "the cake is a lie" "she's only going to kill you!".

The theme song is written by Jonathan Coulton (one of my favorite guitarists along with David Gilmour, and John Lennon) the song is called "still alive"

My other favorite songs by the three I mentioned are,
re: your brains, codemonkey, and skullcrusher mountian by JoCo
shine on you crazy diamond, where we start, the gold it's in the..., and comfterbly numb by Gilmour
instant karma! by Lennon

Way behind

I've been busy, busy, busy!

On Monday night my color guard preformed for an Eagle scout court of honor.(COH).
Normally I play fife, but for this rare occasion the scout who was receiving the rank of Eagle wanted all rifles. I am also the Weapons Master (I teach how to twirl rifles and swing sabers)
so that was no problem.

We completed opening and closing with the presentation of The Colors and the retiring of The Colors.

Yesterday (Wednesday) we took a drive to the country - North Carolina. We (we being me and my family) live in a very metropolitan city , so saying we're city folk is an understatement. if you've read the blog,  Eclectic Eccentricities Etc then you now about the Holy Trinity (Pier-1, Taco Bell, 7-11) if not, it's a great blog. We drove out there to meet up with some friends who live pretty much in the middle of nowhere.  So with our GPS, a cooler full of PB&Js, and cellphone in pocket, we made our way out there.

But the great time was worth the drive, the small ones covered a slip n slide with shaving cream while the big ones (that includes me, altho I am a "little one" at heart) stayed inside not wanting to get shaving-creamed. After the "little ones" came inside we went back outside, and then it happened. We found shaving cream cans on the ground 8-) We went WILD! of course the older member of our group (16) had a hight advantage. So we started throwing it instead.(It's much harder to get hit from ten feet away) by the end of our strange war, we looked unrecognizable. We were all covered from head to foot(i'll have pics soon) and after a cleansing dip in the pool we were on our way home...

Just getting started

Hey everybody!
I just started making musical instruments to sell.
The idea came to me as I thought about A fun way to make money. I decided to started a company called River-Rock Instruments. And so it all began. I make a lot of different flutes and other wind instruments that will soon be added to Etsy.com.
